Arindam Basu is an Indian former journalist, public relations officer, entrepreneur and author. Born on April 17, 1972 in Kolkata, West Bengal to author father Amitava Bose and mother Tandra Basu, Arindam lives in Kolkata with his wife (Dolon) and runs a branding and public relations company.
Basu emerged as a leading communications consultant for some of the biggest brands in India, after he gave up journalism and founded Carpe Diem Communique Pvt. Ltd., a white collar boutique branding and pr agency. He is also a published author and columnist.
Arindam studied in St Joseph’s College in Kolkata. He was average in his studies, but had leadership qualities that saw him becoming house captain for successive years. He was excellent in arts in general and English in particular; a subject that later helped him build his career. He completed his ICSE with first division and completed his high school with arts as major.
After the tenth standard, he got admitted in St Xavier’s College from where he completed his graduation with English Honours and later went on to complete his Masters from Calcutta University from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. He secured the first position in Calcutta University in his batch and won Santosh Kumar Dutta Award as the Most Promising Student of Journalism.
After this he went on to do his diploma in Public Relations from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan where he scored a high first division, coming second in overall ranking.
